Most people are fans of bacon. And of beer. And of ice cream.
But how many are fans of all three put together?
The Texas Motor Speedway, in conjunction with Levy Restaurants, recently decided to put this to the test. Their “Shake ‘n Bacon” Brew beer milkshake was available to lucky NASCAR fans for a short stint.

Here at Bacon Today, we consider bacon, sugar and beer to be basic food groups, so we had to try this concoction for ourselves.
The recipe that the nice folks at Texas Motor Speedway were so good to send us called for a black lager. Guinness Black Lager just happens to be a regularly-stocked item in the Bacon Today fridge, so we were in luck.
Mixed with some vanilla ice cream, maple syrup and topped with bacon bits and whipped cream, the end result was an addictively good concoction.
Although we drank it all down, we’re not sure if this shake is for everybody… You definitely need to be a fan of stouts, porters or lagers to enjoy this dark beer beverage.
Our recipe varies slightly from the version made by the Texas Motor Speedway. Next time we make this, we’re gonna try some pecan praline or chocolate ice cream.
