Ingredients:

For the Bacon Burger:

1/2 pound ground bacon
1/2 pound lean ground beef
3 oz. cream cheese
1/3 cup grumbled blue cheese or gorgonzola cheese
Salt and pepper
Garlic powder
Olive oil
1/4 cup grilled sweet onions (optional)
BBQ sauce (optional)
Buns

For the Beer Batter:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups beer

Combine together ground beef & bacon. Shape meat into 8 evenly-sized thin patties. Combine together cream cheese and blue/gorgonzola cheese. Spoon equal portions onto 4 of the patties, then top with the remaining patties making sure to pinch the edges together to seal the cheese in.

Grill the burgers over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until thermometer reads 160 and juices run clear.

While the burgers are cooking, sauté your onions in a little bit of olive oil until they become tender and golden. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a deep fryer or deep pan, heat up 3 inches of oil to 375 degrees.

After your burgers are done cooking, remove them from the grill and set aside to rest. While they are resting, prepare your beer better by whisking together all dry ingredients, then slowly pouring in the beer.

Carefully coat one patty in your batter, then CAREFULLY place it in the flyer using a slotted spoon to place it into the hot oil. If you have room, you can cook more than one at a time, but be careful. Cook each patty until each side is golden. Drain on paper towel lined plate or baking sheet.

Serve your burger on your bun, topped with grilled onions and BBQ sauce.
