This recipe is from the creative minds behind Porcus Infernum, the world’s best bacon hot sauce. The combination of spicy and sweet is truly addictive. The bacon strips are basted with a dark beer, maple syrup and hot sauce mixture and then cooked to crispy perfection. The result is some candied, spicy bacon strips that prove that bacon truly is “meat candy!” You can make these candied bacon strips as hot as you’d like. Just be sure to make a huge batch because you won’t be able to stop eating them.
4 Tbsp dark beer¬†(we used an imperial stout from)
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
Rub brown sugar on both sides of the bacon strips.
Place wire cooling rack(s) on foil-lined, rimmed baking sheets. Turn the oven to 350¬∞ F. Place the bacon on the racks and put in the oven for 10 minutes, then flip and allow to cook for another 5-10 minutes.
During the first stage of cooking the bacon, take the other ingredients (Porcus Infernum, beer, Maple syrup, and 1 Tbsp of brown sugar) and whisk together well. You can use 1-3 teaspoons
Once the fat starts rendering out, it‚Äôs time to start the basting routine. Every 5 minutes, turn the bacon and lightly baste with the Porcus and beer mixture. Continue flipping every 5 minutes until done. Allow to cool and enjoy!
