It’s not a bake-off; it’s a BAC-ON!

Who’s ready for another year of bacon-tastic dishes?  I know we are.  Sugardale just announced the start of the second Great Sugardale BAC-ON!  Bacon wrapped steak, bacon enchiladas, bacon brownies…if you can prepare it, Sugardale wants to see it!

Bacon-lovers are invited to enter their original bacon recipes in one of three categories: Appetizer/Sides/Entertaining, Ready Bacon®, and Main Dish.  Each category will be narrowed down to three finalists that will compete live for a chance to win $3,000 and the title of “Grand BAC-ON Champion”.  Visit to enter your recipe in the contest and view last year’s winning recipes.

This year the finalists will cook in front of thousands of people at the Ohio State Fair.  The 2011 Great Sugardale BAC-ON will be held on Saturday, July 30th in Columbus, Ohio on the Main Street Stage.

Last year the title of “Grand BAC-ON Champion” went to Olga Watkins, a Pittsburgh native.  Her Bacon and Blueberry Salad wowed the judges, which included TopChef contestant Spike Mendelsohn and Food Network’s Claire Robinson.  Ready Bacon® finalist from the 2010 Great Sugardale BAC-ON, Dee G., reflected on her experience.  “I had a blast!  That was my first cook-off and it was a wonderful experience.  Everyone there was just so nice!  I am glad I came, it was great!  …I am already creating new dishes for next year, hoping to make it to the finals again!”
