Coloradans Lick Their Lips in Anticipation of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour at Keystone Resort, Colorado

100 Days of Summer at Keystone, Colorado” will kick off on June 24th with the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour

April 14, 2011 (Des Moines, IA)Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival (BRBF), the nation’s premier bacon festival, announced a new partnership with the Keystone Neighbourhood Company (KNC). As part of the agreement, the KNC will host Colorado’s first Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour event in River Run Village on Friday, June 24-26. In exchange, BRBF will provide over 3,000 lbs of bacon from a variety of bacon purveyors along with its famous bacon lectures series delivered by some of nation’s most brilliant bacon minds.

Mark Mathews, Executive Director of KNC, explains, “The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is highly regarded as the leader in providing bacon enthusiasts with the opportunity to explore and express their love for bacon in a fun, imaginative and supportive atmosphere. We’re excited about this new partnership and can’t wait to play host to thousands of bacon lovers from across the mountain states.”

Brooks Reynolds, co-founder of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, adds, “As far as I’m concerned, if you haven’t sampled a variety of bacon at 9,000 feet over sea level, you haven’t lived. The Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour couldn’t dream of a better location for our event. With KNC’s help, we look forward to transforming River Run Village into a bacon lover’s paradise. OHHHH, BACON!”

In response to the announcement, bacon aficionado, Neil Pederson of Golden, CO was overwhelmed with emotion, “If words could only describe how I’m feeling right now. As a native Iowan, I miss the many different types of bacon available at local meat lockers and pig farms. At times, I long for an applewood smoked bacon from a pure bred Duroc pig. Or a few slices of dry-cured bacon from a true Berkshire breed. A tear comes to my eye, just thinking about the opportunity that lies before me. OHHHH, BACON!”

A limited number of Blue Ribbon Bacon Packages will be available for $30 online through www.blueribbonbaconfestival.com, beginning May 1st, 2011 while supplies last. The package entitles the holder admission to the three-day event, a commemorative hat, a beer koozie, unlimited bacon samples at the Bacon Showcase, live music, bacon educational lectures and one free beer. About Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival

What started as a groups’ passion for “all things bacon” has evolved into America’s premier bacon festival. In 2001, a group of guys began celebrating bacon during an annual weekend retreat in Spirit Lake, IA. Six years later, they pursued a deeper understanding of their favorite meat by earning “All About Bacon” diplomas from Living History Farms. On March 1st, 2008, officially organized under the Iowa Bacon Board and led by Brooks Reynolds, they went on to found a festival: a festival with the mission of improving the enjoyment of all things bacon by providing education, recognition, advocacy and research on behalf of the masses, everyone, everywhere, all of them. They are serious. Seriously, dudes. Seriously.
