So many people have been writing in to tell us just how blown away they are by the absolute bacon “scrumptiosity” of some of the bacon oriented foods and condiments that we have recently covered, that it was only a matter of time that we would start hearing about one of the seven succulent wonders of the seven seas, Captain Thom’s Slappin’ Fat Bacon Ketchup.
Truthfully, the most outlandishly outrageous thing I can say about this bacon flavored ketchup … is the fact that it ISN’T the slightest bit outlandishly outrageous, but rather … very well balanced and blended in a sincere gourmet presentation that would make your average aficionado equally as happy as your dedicated Bacon Freak.
In other words, while many recent “band-wagon jumpers” have suddenly decided to try to quickly capitalize on the insane, raging wave of “Baco-Mania,” that we “baconistas” have worked so sincerely hard to achieve, the good Captain has instead chosen to honor those of us serious “baco-holics,” as well as his own god reputation, deciding simply not to throw good taste to the wind in order to score points for extreme, 100 proof, over the top “baconism.”
This commitment to complete culinary clarity is all that more impressive when you consider the fact that the Captain comes to us from the world of hot sauces and chili concoctions, known world wide as the most intensely extreme and competitively out of control environment where condiments so agonizingly extreme as to cause someone’s head to explode, is quite often greeted with applause and an award or two.
The Captain’s bacon ketchup has precisely as much class and connoisseur cultured good taste as his fine collection of hot chili products, so when I describe the flavor to you, all I can say is: “Imagine the best ketchup you’ve ever eaten poured over a truly quality cut of naturally wood smoked gourmet, country style bacon.
It’s just that good. Enough said.
