“Bacon Me Angry” Angry Orchard Cocktail
Looking for the perfect Super Bowl Sunday cocktail to serve your guests? Consider this drink featuring Angry Orchard Hard Cider. Hard ciders are surging in popularity lately, due in part to the fact that they’re gluten free—and delicious! This cocktail was created by Hayley Jensen, Angry Orchard’s resident mixologist of Taproom 307 in New York City. We’re delighted to have her insights on why this pairing works so well.
“I love mixing with hard cider because it’s so versatile. It’s got a slight sweetness like a juice or liqueur, fizz like club soda, and some acidity like citrus. The bright apple flavor works perfectly with savory, and in this case, bacon!
Bacon adds a delicious savory element to this cocktail, and along with the bitters, balances the fruit-forward sweetness of the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple really well. Most people wouldn’t guess it, but bacon is really easy to infuse into vodka, and the result is, obviously, delicious! In this cocktail, from a flavor perspective, bacon brings savory and salty flavors, and even a little bit of smoke.
Angry Orchard Crisp Apple is well-balanced and refreshing, not too sweet and not too dry, and the bacon is savory and salty. These balance each other really well in the cocktail. You’ll pick up something different in every sip.”
