A British man decided to change his name from Simon Smith to Double Bacon Cheeseburger. The name change came about after a night of drinking with some friends at a local pub. He said the name was the first thing to pop into his head and is a reflection of his love for the bacon double cheeseburger.
The 33-year-old gets a kick out of signing his e-mails “B.D. Cheeseburger.” He also enjoys making travel reservations under his new name. However, his fiancee is not so thrilled with the name change and isn’t looking forward to becoming “Mrs. Cheeseburger.” When asked what his parents think about the name change, he answered, “My mum was furious but my dad thinks it’s hilarious. He’s more than happy to use my new name.”
The Evening Standard reports that Mr. Cheeseburger applied to the UK Deed Poll Service for the name change paperwork, and was drinking with the same friends when the paperwork arrived a few weeks later for him to sign, making the name change official. He is one of 85,000 people who changed their names last year.
If you were going to change your name to reflect your love of bacon, what would you choose?
