Baked Bacon in the Oven
Baking bacon in the oven is the easiest way to cook it with the least amount of mess and the best cooked bacon. By starting in a cool oven, the fat will render out perfectly as the oven temp slowly increases. Here’s how to bake bacon in the oven in 5 easy steps:
1. Don’t pre-heat the oven.
2. Place strips on a parchment lined baking sheet or pyrex dish. Leave 1″ between strips to allow the fat to render out. Over-crowding means the bacon won’t cook properly.
3. Put the baking tray(s) in the oven and turn oven to 350-375°F for dark-colored metal sheets, and 375°F for light-colored metal sheets.
4. Allow to cook for 14-20 minutes depending on thickness of the bacon.
5. Check after 10 minutes and flip the strips if they are over-baking. Remove the trays when the bacon has reached your desired level of doneness (chewy or crispy).
