Recipe Video: How To Make Bacon Cheese Sauce
In this video, Bacon Freak CEO Rocco Loosbrock shows you how to make a spicy bacon cheese sauce. Feel free to substitute another cheese if American cheese isn’t your thing. Just choose something that will give you a creamy consistency when it’s melted. This spicy cheese sauce can be used in many ways. It’s perfect on nachos, quesadillas, tacos and burritos. Chipotle peppers give it a spicy, smoky kick that is further enhanced by the smoky flavor of bacon. Gather up the ingredients below and follow along with Rocco!
1/2 cup finely chopped bacon
1 tablespoon bacon grease
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
7 slices processed American cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 chipotle pepper in adobo, chopped
1/2 tablespoons adobo (from the chipotle pepper can)
1. Lay bacon strips on a foil-lined baking try. Place in oven, then heat oven to 400 degrees. Cook for 17-20 minutes while oven is heating. Take out bacon and transfer to paper towels to drain. Reserve warm bacon grease. Chop bacon in food processor pulsing slowly.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in flour. Pour in the milk and still-warm bacon grease, stir until the mixture thickens. Stirring constantly, mix in cheese and salt. Continue to cook and stir until cheese has melted and all ingredients are well blended, about 15 minutes.
