Salty Sweet Ritz Bacon Chocolate Bark
We were excited when we heard that Ritz Crackers had released a bacon-flavored Ritz. After trying them, we were impressed with their smoky, peppery flavor and decided they deserved to be used in a recipe. After all, who doesn’t love Ritz? We’ve been eating these delicious crackers since we were kids. Their versatility is what makes them so appealing to us as adults. And Bacon Ritz opens up a whole new world of recipe possibilities!
We decided the buttery, bacony flavor of Bacon Ritz would be ideal in a bacon bark recipe. The sweetness of the chocolate and the candied bacon contrasts with the salty crispiness of the macadamia nuts and the Ritz. We finished it off with a dusting of sea salt. The salty, sugary, savory combo is extra addictive. This recipe is very easy to make with the kids and is a real crowd-pleaser. You can customize it by changing the nuts or chocolate to your preference. Just make sure you use the Bacon Ritz for their amazing flavor and texture.
And now our neighbors to the north can enjoy Bacon Ritz as they will soon be available in Canada. Did you know that Canadians love bacon as much as Americans? In a survey conducted by Maple Leaf Foods, 43% of the respondents said they would rather have bacon than sex. Nearly one in four respondents (23%) wondered if “my partner loves bacon more than me.” Sounds like some serious love for bacon, eh? Salty Sweet Ritz Bacon Chocolate Bark Ingredients:
2 bags semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz)
1/2 Tbsp. coarse sea salt
1/4 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
3-4 strips candied bacon, chopped
12-18 Ritz Bacon Crackers, roughly broken
1. Cook and candy the bacon by following this Candied Bacon Recipe.
2. Fill a small pan 1/3 full with water and bring to a boil. When the water starts to bubble, place a heat-proof bowl on top. Make sure the water does not touch the bowl. When the water boils heavily, remove from heat and add the chips to the bowl. Stir the chocolate until smooth.
3. Line your other jelly roll pan with parchment paper, then pour the melted chocolate into the pan, smoothing it out with a rubber spatula. First, sprinkle the coarse sea salt evenly over the chocolate. Then layer on the broken Ritz Bacon Crackers, then the candied bacon bits and macadamia nuts.
4. Refrigerate the bark until the chocolate sets, then carefully break it into pieces.
