October 24th is National Bologna Day. Most people have either a love or a hate relationship with bologna. I’m one of those people who happen to love bologna. Yes, it’s true, and I’m not ashamed to proclaim my bologna love to the world. Bologna sandwiches are very nostalgic for me. My mom made the best Wonder bread, bologna, American cheese and Miracle Whip sandwiches. So I decided to whip up a Bacon & Bologna Sandwich in homage to this favorite childhood sandwich of yesteryear. If you’re not a fan of bologna, try whipping this bad boy up. Because–dare I say it–bacon makes bologna even better! And you can never have too much fried meat on a sandwich… Actually, adding a few slices of fried spam would’ve made this sandwich perfect. Next time!
Oscar Mayer bologna
1. Fry up as many bacon and bologna slices as your stomach can handle.
2. Stack layers of fried bacon and bologna as high as you dare go. May add cheese slices along the way as desired.
3. Top with a heavy smearing of Miracle Whip or your preferred condiment.
4. Devour and enjoy.
