I first remember hearing about “Bacon Burger Dogs” on the Bill Cosby Show back when I was a little kid. While I was wisely raised by my folks to know that not everything on television is true (probably less than 10%) I always had a sneaking suspicion that Cliff Huxtable, with his dedicated commitment to family values and truth, wouldn’t lie about something as important as bacon.
Well … I was right, the Bacon Burger Dog actually does exist, and after reading through about 12 different versions of the recipe, this is the one that is the easiest and quickest to prepare and enjoy with your friends and or family.
Bacon Burger Dogs
(Serves 8 )
2 lb. ground beef
½ lb. Boss Hog Honey BBQ Bacon
4 oz. cheddar cheese, cut into three inch slices.
1 tsp. Cajun seasoning
In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground beef and Cajun seasoning together, well.
Now shape the meat mixture into 8t square patties.
Place the 3 inch long slice of cheddar cheese in center of each patty, wrapping the meat around the slices of cheese, in order to full enclose and seal the cheese slices.
Now wrap slices of bacon around each meat dog, using a toothpick to hold each end of bacon intact, to the meat dog.
What you end up with is 8 “hot dog shaped” burger dogs with cheese in the middle and bacon swirled / spiraled around the outside of the burger.
Now grill the burgers on the bbq for approximately 15 minutes, till done and then serve on hotdog buns.
