Mima Hardwicke and the Gertrude Baines Connection

For months I’ve wanted to come up with a title for an article that would rival “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. The lovely Ms. Hardwicke finally made this dream possible. Unfortunately, she had to give her life for the cause.

First we reported on the inspirational story of Ms. Gertrude Baines who, at 114, told CNN that bacon was one of the reasons she had been alive for so long. But she’s not the only one.

As reported last week in the SF Weekly, young Ms. Mima Hardwicke passed away recently at the still-green age of 100. Before she drifted off into the “next phase” she shared some of her secrets for long life. Among the ingredients? You guessed it – BACON!

So goodnight, Ms. Hardwicke. May the bacon be crispy in heaven.

— Mike

Thanks to SF Weekly’s Andy W. for sending us the lead on this story.
