White Castle Bacon Slider

by Corey James

While visiting Indianapolis and making my way to another restaurant, I spied the world-famous White Castle. I’d never tasted a White Castle slider burger so it when on my to-do list of bacon in Indianapolis.

Some friends & I drove over to White Castle and I got straight to business. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and took out my camera.

The burger was presented in a cardstock box and was relatively small in size.

Considering the size of the burger, there was a considerable amount of bacon. The bacon itself was a bit flimsy and not very high in quality.

Overall the burger was mediocre. The cost was low, but the value was really not that great considering the small burger size and lackluster taste. We give the White Castle Bacon & Cheese Slider a Smaste™ rating of 23.572.

If you’re hungry for bacon and all you can find is a White Castle, grab a burger. Otherwise keep your eyes open for something better.

I had no idea White Castle offered bacon; that’s good news to this audience.

For the taste, White Castle hasn’t been known as a “gourmet” burger, but has legions of fans that will undoubtedly stand up for it. They’re good, but usually after a number of beers (and that number usually corresponds to the number of sliders one can eat).

As to the size of the burgers, that’s White Castle’s whole thing, that they’re “sliders,” or mini-burgers. It’s the Northeast region’s version of Krystal, essentially. The whole point is that you pick up a “sack” of burgers and can eat a bunch of smaller burgers rather than one regular-sized one. Seems to be a trend in the burger business lately. A bunch of the casual dining places (Chili’s, Ruby Tuesday’s, etc.) are offering them, and from the looks of recent ads, it seems that Burger King has launched their own line of minis as well.

Krystal got started after its owner visited White Castle. Therefore, Krystal is a White Castle knock-off.
