Made a couple of these last night and it was delicious. I substituted Pink lady apples for Granny Smith and used Maple bacon..mmmm.

I made this pie and entered it in the Salem, WV Apple Butter Festival Pie Contest and won 2nd place. I added a sprinkling of cheddar cheese on top during the last 12 minutes of baking. It was so beautiful and pretty tasty.

My wife made this for a pre-Thanksgiving feast. It was amazing! The bacon and apples work well together. We used hickory-smoked bacon, but next time we’ll use maple bacon. I assume the maple flavor will make the pie kick even more ass than it previously did.
