Some call the canine “man’s best friend”. If that’s the case why are so many of you feeding your dog so-called treats made of animal parts unknown? I mean, seriously, what’s really in those store-bought, over-processed, bone-shaped dog cookies anyhow?

Why not treat your pooch to a good home-cooked meal. A meal with bacon.

That’s exactly what Maggie from Michigan did for her pups. She created what she calls Nutty Bacon Dog Treats and shared the recipe on her blog called “Dog Hill Kitchen”.

Now, there’s no way that we’re going to taste test these doggie delights, but in an informal survey of some four-legged fur balls the bacon dog treats earned a solid Smaste™ rating of Woof Woof. I’m not sure what the conversion factor is for dog Smaste™ to people Smaste™ but I’m guessing that’s a pretty high mark.

So read Maggie’s recipe for bacon dog treats and make some for your pet. Let us know how warmly they’re received!

How can you not saw “awwwww” when you see that photo? Folks, meet Betty, a 4 year-old Jack Russel/Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who loves bacon. She’s the resident best friend at Sew Be It Studios, a sewing school of sorts in Toronto, Canada.

Betty is wearing a custom bacon & eggs costume sewn by the in-house crew at Sew Be It Studios. “We all love bacon! Well, Betty likes to eat it far more than she likes wearing it.” says Bevin, one of the Sew Be It employees.

Bevin said that the costume was made primarily from felt scraps they had laying around the studio. Sew Be It promotes the idea of eco-sewing (i.e. reusing excess and unused materials instead of purchasing new fabrics) so this costume was no exception.

While there are no immediate plans to release the costume as a commercial product, you can follow these instructions and make your pet a costume of his/her own.

Lucky dog!
