That was the question posed by Allison Perlik, Senior Editor of Restaurants & Institutions (R & I) way back on November 25, 2009. Why do we bring you this information months later you ask? Simple — because bacon lovers around the globe should let Allison know that nothing will replace bacon as their defacto treat of choice.
Not one comment exists on the R & I article at the time of this Bacon Today article’s writing. Come on bacon fans, get over to the R & I site and let them know that bacon will not be replaced by boring eggs anytime soon!
Wendy’s came out with a burger that has 6 patties. 6!
After looking up the stats on this burger I could only find the info on the Baconator Triple, which is HALF the size of the 6 patty (duh!), so I’ve doubled everything I found to get a better idea of what is in this 6 burger death wish:
2660 calories
172 grams of fat
690 mg of cholesterol
180 grams of protein (okay, that’s not bad… just triple what any human being needs)
94 grams of carbs
The Baconator Triple has 9 strips of bacon… does the 6 patty have 18?? (Swoon?)
Sweet Hamhocks. I can feel my stroke forming in my left lobe. And check out this guy, he actually ATE the whole thing and didn’t die (immediately):
This guy either is A) a new breed of human being or B) a complete and utter idiot.
I really thought around 2:04 that he was going to throw up. Or quit. Or fall over dead. But either way, kudos for Wendy’s for going that extra mile and keeping us meat lovers flush in bacon! (Although, we may send you our medical bill. Just saying…)
You may remember Scott’s last epic burger challenge at The Counter. Well, this week he was at it again and about 10 folks came along to witness the event (and eat some tasty burgers at The Counter).
Look at that burger. Bask in it’s glorious girth. Soak in the amazing awe-inspiring awesomeness.
That’s one pound of all-beef patties, one-pound of chicken breasts, one pound of turkey patties, and for garnish…one pound of veggie patties. Mixed amongst the patties were strips of thick, crisp bacon.
The 10 of us who descended upon The Counter to watch Scott take down another monster burger ordered some pretty tasty burgers ourselves. Those among us who had our burgers built with bacon were extremely impressed with the meat candy’s quality, flavor and presentation. Take a look at a few examples of other bacon burgers consumed during Scott’s challenge:
Unfortunately, I had to leave a bit early and didn’t get to witness the end of Scott’s amazing burger challenge. When I left the burger was well on it’s way to being only a memory, although I heard rumors that this challenge might have been just a bit too much of a good thing for Scott to finish. Even if he didn’t complete the entire meal, it was a valiant effort for certain.
For his efforts, Scott was rewarded with a nifty polo shirt from The Counter. I’m sure he’ll wear it proudly when he takes on the next bacon-infused eating challenge.
The ingredients: Just about everything the restaurant could stack on the burger, including tasty bacon of course
The cost: around $30 for a single hamburger
The deal: If Scott finished the burger in one hour or less, he didn’t have to pay for the meal
The result: Scott did in fact finish the massive bacon-rich burger in only 32 minutes and left the restaurant with both a full stomach and a full wallet
Amazingly, Scott said he felt fine after finishing the meal and successfully completing the challenge. He gave the bacon a Smaste™ rating of 38.542, a very high mark especially since the meat candy was competing against so many other flavors in the burger.
The staff at The Counter was quite impressed with Scott’s acheivement. The chefs, manager, all the wait staff…they all came over to congratulate Scott on a job well done. The Bacon Today staff follows suit and salutes Scott and his efforts.
That’s right, we’re throwing down the gauntlet and challenging you to come up with the most bacon-only combinations you can muster. Can you hit the illustrious bacon wrapped bacon wrapped bacon wrapped bacon (BWBWBWB) or go for an even more impressive concoction?
To get the ball rolling, we’ve created two of our own…
