Usually if someone makes something out of bacon we get pretty excited about sharing the result with you. In this case, though, it’s the beginning of their story that I felt was newsworthy.
Kim W. shot us this link to the Commanche Club. It’s an post written by a guy who had made his first bacon explosion. You can read the post to see how he followed the original recipe and ended up with his own heart-attack-in-a-tube, but I wanted to draw your attention to the very first thing he said and the very first picture he posted:
“It all started last night when my wife came home with a mysterious box. I got up to investigate as she laid it on the counter with a *thump*. It was a cardboard box, and inside it, 10 lbs of bacon.”
So many questions…

I love to see something as ridiculous as a box of bacon. It reminds me that there is still good in this world.
Every now and then we find a recipe that MUST be shared. You may remember the Bacon-Wrapped Cheese Yule Log from Day 1 of our 12 Days of a Bacon-Wrapped Christmas. In the great tradition of rolled foods comes the Bacon Explosion. Get your smokers ready, because I think you’re all going to want to try this one.

It’s a great recipe. It starts with a BT favorite -- the woven bacon mat. On top of that they spread a huge amount of sausage, followed by more bacon -- real fried bacon pieces -- and BBQ seasoning. After that they roll the thing up and throw it in a smoker. When it’s all done, they slather it with BBQ sauce so that it looks like this…
