Bacon Candy from The Bacon Vixen

There’s a new company on the scene and it’s bacon candies are causing folks from New York City to San Diego to salivate with delight. That company is The Sticky Pig.

The Sticky Pig is the brainchild of Tara Simon (AKA The Bacon Vixen), a graphic designer turned Pilates instructor turned confectioner of bacon candy. Her creations are simply outstanding – from the idea to the looks to the combination of flavors. Here are a just a few examples of the treats with which to tempt your tastebuds…

The Elvis – “Based on Elvis’ favorite sandwich filled with peanut butter, banana and bacon. Ours is filled with peanut butter, fresh bananas with a hint of lemon and honey and topped with peanut butter buttercream and crunchy organic banana chips.”

Raspberry Jelly Doughnut – Sweet bacon filled with fresh raspberries, dates and crunchy, raw almonds and dusted with snow white powdered sugar from the bacon fairy princess. Sticky and delicious!

S’mores - No camp fire necessary, just a burning desire for chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows and our little twist – chocolate hazelnut butter. Graham cracker crusted candied bacon filled with chocolate and hazelnut butter and topped with even more chocolate, a tiny marshmallow and dusted with graham cracker crumbs. Our s’mores candied bacon is just so gosh-darn cute you’ll want to eat this one right up!

Plus, each month The Sticky Pig features a unique, limited time only flavor like May’s “Hot Mama!” or June’s “Vanilla Cognac & Cigar”. So get your ordering fingers ready and type your way over to www.TheStickyPig.com and buy yourself a box of porcine perfection.

Bacon Peanut Brittle

Bacon Peanut Brittle

Denise S. from Wasabi Prime shared with us this curious little candified concoction called Bacon Peanut Brittle. Available from the quirkily logoed Sir Francis Bacon Shoppe, the candy appears to be something worth trying.

Denise reports that the Bacon Peanut Brittle is “pretty smoky and unique in flavor. Definitely to be enjoyed in small doses, as it gets overwhelming, but I think it would be quite marvelous crumbled up over vanilla ice cream.”

Caffinated Bacon Lollipops

Caffinated Bacon Lollipops

Lolliphile packs a plethora of pucker into their wide variety of lollipops. They make absinthe, white russian, and wasabi-ginger to name a few. What we’re after though is bacon and they not only offer a bacon lollipop, they offer it with a kick of caffeine!

According to Lolliphile, “We invented the Maple Bacon Lollipop, and now we’ve improved it: we’ve made it the bacon-y equivalent of an energy drink, adding two cups worth of caffeine to the already time-tested wonder of organic, sustainably farmed bacon and delicious Vermont maple syrup.”

On a side note, if you have a craving for maple bacon lollipops and don’t need the caffeine fix, buy a pack of 5 for under $4 from our sponsor BaconFreak.com.

You Can Be Bacon, Too

You Can Be Bacon, Too

BT readers are dedicated and involved. We get dozens of emails a week from Baconites all over the world with bacon anecdotes, story leads and recipe ideas. Some of them even go so far as to actually bake their recipes, take some pictures and send them in. Stephanie is one such reader and her creations look so delicious that we decided to share them with you.

Her first creation is candy-coated bacon…

I should assign a Smaste™ rating on looks alone. Next came chocolate covered bacon…

…which really speaks for itself.

Stephanie’s final creation was bacon pecan toffee, shown here in all its sugary splendor.

If you have a recipe involving bacon that you would like to share with the readers of BT, just cook it up, take a picture, give it a Smaste&#0153 rating and send it all to bacontoday at gmail dot com with the recipe you used. We’ll review it, write it up and we might even try cooking it for ourselves.

To paraphrase that great line from Terminator 2 – There is no bacon but what you make.
