Bacon Today readers often send us stories of their bacony discoveries from around the world. Today’s story comes from Gordon J. and his taste test of maple bacon ice cream at a little ice cream parlor on the U.S. east coast.
“I had a delicious bacon treat this weekend while exploring western MA…
We had heard good things about a little ice cream/candy shop in the very Norman Rockwell-y town of Easthampton, Massachusetts. The shop is called Mt. Tom’s (that’s the mountain nearby) and they have 30+ plus flavors to choose from. I was about to go my traditional choc/pb route when i saw their special of the day was a flavor called “maple bacon”. I found it in the row of buckets and sure enough, I could see the big chunks of bacon calling out to me from the tan ice cream.
I ordered it, along with a scoop of peanut butter cup (a nice combo btw) and was not let down. the maple was just strong enough to bring out the flavor of the bacon. The cold temp of the ice cream also made the bacon a bit more chewy, which was nice as it remained in your mouth after the ice cream was gone.”

If you’re ever in Asheville, NC, Two Spoons Ice Cream also has a maple bacon flavor that’s out of this world. Also in Asheville – The Hop, which has an “Elvis” ice cream (peanut butter, banana, and bacon). It’s not as good as the maple bacon IMO, but it’s still pretty good.
Don’t ever come to Buffalo. Not only do we not have bacon ice cream of any variety, but the people here don’t appreciate a great piece of bacon candy anyways.
I might move to Easthampton, MA.
