Burger King will put an extra serving of 15 slices of bacon on your burger for 110 Yen.

In case you didn’t know- Burger King is not only a U.S. fast food mogul. Burger King, like many other fast food giants, spreads its glutinous speedy wings into other parts of the globe. Not really a surprise though. To be honest, our American eating ways are a little coveted. Well, duh! We believe in overindulging in delicious things. Like bacon, for example. And Japan’s Burger King decided to make quite the American statement.

The word on the street is that for a limited time, Burger King would put an extra serving of 15 slices of bacon on your burger for 110 Yen. (That’s $1.24 for us Americans.)

This Japanese fellow really wanted to make a statement. We don’t know if he was making a bet with someone or trying to get a hot date out of his endeavor, but he certainly got more than he bargained for. This guy asked for 70 extra servings of bacon (that’s 1,050 slices) on his burger. Check out the video. He definitely had to hit the bathroom after a few bites. Guess he didn’t get that hot date.

It’s hard to resist any food item on the menu that contains bacon. Mac and cheese made with scallions, white truffle oil, and… bacon. Delicious! A mushroom, Swiss burger with thick strips of… bacon. Ooh, even better! It’s as if bacon completely amplifies meals; turning it into quite the euphoric eating experience. But it doesn’t stop there.

Bacon is quite ubiquitous these days. Even with top chefs using it to add irresistible flavor to their unique dishes; and the marriage of bacon and chocolate taking the chocolate lovers by storm, bacon isn’t only reserved for palatable foods. Bacon has inserted its aroma into soap, dental floss, and even candles. With all the allure behind this meat candy, Fresh Step® has come out with a new cat litter that will leave not only your cats feeling happy and clean; you may just have to keep your dog away from it as well!

Fresh Step® decided to experiment with different scents for their cat litter and to their surprise, the scent of bacon won out over all the floral arrangements. Fresh Step® Organic Bacon Scoopable Cat Litter emits the scent of bacon every time your cat uses the litter box. It also simulates the sound of bacon sizzling in the pan.

It’s the perfect litter for bacon lovers around the world! <a href="http://www.freshstep.com/bacon/" target=blank">Fresh Step® Organic Bacon Cat Litter will have any cat purring.

Well, thanks to another loyal, fellow Bacon-Buddy; Will Mueller, we’ve just gotten word that Junior has started up a pretty awesome culinary video series called “Cooking With Junior,” and to nobody’s surprise, episode #1 is all about bacon, pork and more bacon … and, by the way … did we mention bacon?

Hey remember “Mmmm Bacon” ,that really cool country western song / video that we featured a while back, written, performed and sung by our good pork passionate pal, Junior Redwood?

Well, thanks to another loyal, fellow Bacon-Buddy; Will Mueller, we’ve just gotten word that Junior has started up a pretty awesome culinary video series called “Cooking With Junior,” and to nobody’s surprise, episode #1 is all about bacon, pork and more bacon … and, by the way … did we mention bacon?

Yessiree Bub, Junior shows you step by step, exactly how to make the ultimate “Bacon-Wrapped Pizza Log” and I’ll tell you what … judging by the comments, body language and facial expressions of the four gentlemen who get the honor of sampling Junior’s recipe after he has completed cooking it to absolute perfection, I can’t wait till tomorrow when I’m going to run to the store and get everything I don’t already have on hand in the pantry to make this meal a manifest masterpiece!

I’ve got to be completely honest with you here, I just find this guy to be so down to earth and sincerely REAL, that’s it’s truly a pleasure to watch him do something that he truly loves from the center of his being … or stomach!

Don’t let his relaxed, down home style fool you however, this guy really knows exactly what he is doing and the video is far superior to most recipe preparation videos that you usually find online.

It’s extremely well organized, well shot and well edited, heck there’s even a clock up on the wall the whole time he’s preparing the meal, so you always have a good sense of how long things really takes, even though he is kind enough to edit the video in such a way as to avoid long, laborious boring segments of dragged out, wasted time.

Cooler than cool, but without “acting” like he thinks or knows that he’s cool, Junior cooks in a very laid back, at ease manner, drinking 1 or more chilled cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, while articulately explaining everything that he is doing … and why … in a approachable manner, adding in a lot of additionally interesting stories and side bars to keep the whole experience very entertaining and informative.

Warning: This recipe is for ONLY serious Baconistas, as it includes a pound and a half of gourmet bacon, an absolute ton of Italian pepperoni, as Junior says: ”You can’t have too many pepperonis, it’s just not possible” and a pound of gourmet Sausage.

So how good is the recipe? According to the c

omments received by those lucky folks that got to taste it: “It’s the best thing I’ve eaten this year” and “This is excellent … I’m at a loss for words here!” I’m sold and will be trying it tomorrow, just as soon as the local grocery store opens! Enjoy!

It had been a while since I'd seen bacon on the big screen and it made me wonder what my prospects are for finding bacon on the small screen at home. Here, for your eating pleasure:

This past weekend I finally got around to seeing “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” It was just as good as everyone said it was! And when I say “everyone” I mean “the surprisingly small number of people who saw it.” And guess what? When Scott has hit his lowest ebb and he needs a good kick in the rear to get him started, his reliable gay roommate Kieran Culkan serves him up a tasty looking plate of bacon. I always knew I liked that family! It had been a while since I’d seen bacon on the big screen and it made me wonder what my prospects are for finding bacon on the small screen at home. Here, for your eating pleasure:

Top 10 Bacon-related videos on YouTube

1) How it’s Made

There are two things you don’t want to know what goes into them: politics and sausage. But this is bacon, so it’s probably okay. View this instructive video (in the style of Mr. Rogers’s “Picture-picture” exposés) and you’ll learn the true meaning of liquid smoke and pork rinds.

2) Jim Gaffigan on Bacon

Gaffigan is the sine qua non of bacon comics. Though he became known for his Hot Pocket comedy, his bacon jokes are worthy of the ultimate breakfast treat. The Friars Club isn’t likely to roast bacon any time soon (everyone knows it’s supposed to be fried) so this is as good as we’re liable to get.

3) Mom throws out the bacon

This clip from “Wife Swap” featured a very well-spoken and agitated young man who, quite understandably, rebels when his new reality-TV mom throws his bacon away. This internet meme has over 3 million views and has spawned various remixes and tributes, but like bacon, is best in its pure, unadulterated form.

4) Bacon rocket

These innovative Brits attempt to be the first to launch bacon into space. The results are more hilarious than tasty, but what really makes this video worthy of the top 10 list is the “Bacon and rocketry, a perfect harmony” song, which turns out to be [spoiler] more musically sound than scientifically true.

5) Bacon and egg ice cream

Seriously, do you need any more motivation to watch this video? What if I tell you it’s a how-to video hosted by a chef with a British accent? YouTube is free to watch, but I’m not responsible if you blow all your dough on a plane ticket to be closer to this dessert.

6) Ali G and the BLT WTF

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blnduEgwBH0

More Brits, this time making Americans the butt of the joke. At 2:05, Sasha Barron-Cohen poses a question to Pat Buchanan confusing weapons of mass destruction with bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches. Buchanan’s response is pretty amazing.

7) Frying bacon

Had enough of British interlopers, sampled music, and production value? Well here it is, bacon in its most unadulterated form. This is the Yule log of bacon videos: it’s just 5 minutes of bacon frying. Should this be its own cable channel? Can I set this as my screen saver? It’s just like those nature videos with the sound of falling rain, only instead of rain it’s meat. The twist: later, an egg gets fried. The mystery: why does this video have 62,000 views?

8 ) Original Footloose music video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwBbMXYDsXw

For sheer view count, this Kenny Loggins video takes first prize at 5 and a half million and counting. And it’s undeniably a Bacon video: he’s all over the thing!

9) “Good morning, Mr. Breakfast”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffD1RlO87O4

Though the antagonist in the film is named Francis, Pee-wee is a friend of bacon as evidenced in this memorable clip from a classic comedy.

10) Joker crime spree

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tgxIWgJ_DE

And speaking of movies directed by Tim Burton, if you haven’t seen the original Batman film for a while, you might have forgotten the panache Jack Nicholson brought to the role of Joker. Who ever thought we could forget such a thing? Certainly, in this Gotham, a Joker crime spree is a far gentler thing than in “The Dark Knight,” but it turns out nobody’s all bad, and the Joker prevents his gang of hooligans from defacing a portrait of Sir Francis Bacon because he “kinda likes this one.” No wonder he’s the villain we all root for.

The fancy video for a horrible-sounding bacon cocktail wasn’t the first production we saw with Alie and Georgia, the fetching California ladies who rope in viewers with goofball humor and impossibly bad drinks. No, the first one was the video for the Ham Daiquiri, a “cocktail” blending ham, rum and other things into “a violent storm…of pig meat and fruit.”

Haven’t seen that Ham Daiquiri piece? Yeah. Just try not to watch.

But if you’re wondering what any of this has to do with pork bellies, look no further than another Alie and Georgia creation, the Bloody Bacon and Cheese. This video tells the story, so we won’t try to break down the mixology, the set design or any other nonsense. Just watch and tell us you’re not a fan of using crumbled bacon on the rim of a cocktail glass. We think it works! (Can anything garnish a glass or a plate like bacon?)

By the way, if you like the sound of all these meat-friendly cocktails, Alie and Georgia have launched a new web series, Drinks with Alie & Georgia. Tune in to see if bacon turns up in any other drinks. We know we’ll be watching.

“…because if that zeppelin crashes into that bacon factory, all of us will be without bacon. And that simply will not do.”

And so goes the closing line in a television spot from one of the hottest advertising initiatives going, the Old Spice “Smell Like a Man, Man” campaign, which propels bacon front and center in what’s becoming the viral communications breakthrough of the year.

Sure, you might remember grandpa for smelling like Old Spice. We bet he’d smell a lot like bacon, too. That is, assuming your grandma made a mess of it every morning for breakfast, especially when the treasured grandkids were over for a bacon-fueled visit!

But make no mistake. This is 2010, and bacon holds a place in even the biggest marketers’ advertising initiatives. The “Smell Like a Man, Man” campaign created for Old Spice by Portland-based advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy is now a huge hit. And that’s thanks in no small part to social media channels like Twitter and YouTube, Internet forums and general word of mouth, plus a little thing called an Emmy nomination.

Sure, the campaign probably sells a ton of old-school cologne. We’re just glad it raises awareness of the possibility a world (gasp!) without delicious pork bellies.

Here’e the gem that centers on our favorite thing other than Old Spice—sweet, sweet bacon:

Junior Redwood is a country musician who released his first album “Broken Cowboy” in January 2010. The album consists of songs revisiting a year spent in hardship after a heartbreaking divorce from his wife Louanne and the loss of custody of his son Junior Redwood Jr.

While Junior fancies himself some kind of country cowboy idealist, he is unaware of the consensus that perceives him as a run-of-the-mill drunken redneck. Junior’s songs on “Broken Cowboy” detail the troubles he has had in numerous aspects of life.

Junior wrote the song “Mmm Bacon” right after the album was released as a tribute to the meat he loves more than all other meats. “The Coor’s Light of meat” as he would say. Junior decided to write this song because felt it was time for him to stop his distain towards the woman he once loved, curtail his drinking, and start writing music everyone can appreciate and understand. A masterpiece was born.

Growing up on a farm, Junior spent a lot of time slopping the pigs that would eventually be sacrificed to improve almost every meal he eats. If you will notice in the video, there are two jars of bacon grease still cooling on the stove in the background. Junior never records anything without eating a copious amount of bacon before-hand. He claims the grease loosens up his vocal chords.

—

Junior Redwood, for spreading the love of bacon in song…we here at Bacon Today salute you.

Mmm Bacon Lyrics

You’re good in the morning
You’re good at night
You’re good off a fork
Or cut up with a knife

You’re good on pizza
And you’re good plain
The way you smell sometimes
Drives me insane

Mmm Bacon
I love you and need you in my life
Mmm Bacon
You make me feel alright

Some call you fat
But to me you’re lean
Just one pound of you girl
Is the best thing I’ve ever seen

You’re good with a pancake
You’re good with an egg
I need you now
Don’t make me beg

You’re in my heart
And you clog my veins
Someday you’ll cause me
Some sweet chest pains

We may die young
But we’ll die free
And if I die from you
I’ll know you died for me

Mmm Bacon
I won’t think twice
You are my life
