I’m a recent convert to the genius that is “30 Rock”. It’s a wildly funny show and every episode is jam packed with some of the most random bullseye comedy I have seen on TV in a long time. For the uninitiated, “Rock” follows the exploits of quirky, clueless, self absorbed Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) as she tries to produce a weekly live comedy sketch show (a la SNL) with self absorbed boss Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin), self absorbed star of said show Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) and other self absorbed star of said show Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski).
On the January 15th, 2009 episode, Liz was slated to go on vacation to somewhere where she could wear black socks on the beach (I’m paraphrasing – it was funnier on TV, I promise) until it got canceled. Later in the episode, she received a text message from her assistant that said “UR V8K8SH1 is baqon”. When confronted, her assistant said that the message meant that her vacation was “back on”, but I think we all know what it really meant.
Oh yes, Tina Fey is hitting us hard with her subversive comedy once again. The true subliminal message of her show was that her vacation was BACON. That’s right, you heard it here first – when Tina Fey needs an escape from her hectic life, she just grills up some bacon and is magically whisked away to a land of puppies and sunshine and happiness and bacon.
Oh, Tina. We knew we could count on you.
