Bacon Infused Maker’s Mark: The Midtown Manhattan Cocktail

You may have seen the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas in commercials on TV. The commercials present this hotel as having a persona of wild decadence. With the high-end designer clothes, champagne, and celebrities; the Cosmopolitan seems to offer a sense of chic-debauchery so-to-speak. They give the effect that being classy can be… a little wild as well. Plus, those commercials really know how to market by having a bunch of cute, fluffy bunnies piling out of an elevator. And hey, those bunnies worked because Bacon Today had to see exactly what was so special about this seemingly exotic and flashy hotel.

The first thing you notice when you walk into the hotel are their strands upon strands of crystals draping the center of the hotel. Crystals cascade down and around the center creating the effect that you’re standing in the middle of a chandelier. Then in the center of the hotel is the all too fitting, Chandelier Bar. Three stories of bar space, wrapped around a large chandelier, little couches and seating areas focused around the aurora borealis twinkling lights reflected off each crystal.

Yes, it was stunning and beautiful. And now you’re asking, where’s the bacon? What about the bacon? So, I went on the hunt and found something surprising and very delicious.

Described as a restaurant serving up old-school revamped classics, The Henry, is a delicious food joint that delivers class with a little bit of the casual thrown in. Imagine it as the type of place where an upscale banker or lawyer would venture off too after work; looking for that perfect French Dip and side of truffle tater tots. With his tie loosened, his sleeves, rolled up, and his shoes still shiny; he takes a bite into that perfect sandwich made of tender prime rib. Yes, it’s just that kind of place.

Here’s where the bacon comes in. I ordered the Midtown Manhattan. You’re probably aware of the traditional Manhattan. Typically served in a martini glass, made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. However, the Midtown Manhattan is wee-bit different. It is created with Bacon Infused Makers Mark, Cinnamon and Fig Infused Sweet Vermouth, Angostura, and Fee’s Aztec Chocolate Bitters.

It was delicious. So were those truffle tater tots. I think I still have dreams about them.

If you find yourself in Vegas, please go to the Henry at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. Tell them Bacon Today sent you, and please… you don’t need to have shiny shoes to step into this place. Sandals are fine. As long as you’re not wearing them with socks.

And if you want to make your own bacon infused whiskey or bourbon, follow our directions here.

Cheers.
