Bacon Chocolate Caramel Apples

Looking for a sweet bacon dessert that’s perfect for the Fall and Winter months? Yeah… you know we have you covered! In bacon, chocolate, and caramel that is! Read on for tasty delight.

Ingredients:
6 Apples
1 pound (14 to 16 ounces) of Cinnamon Sugar or Maple Cinnamon Bacon
1 (14 oz) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
2 Tbsp Milk
Melting Chocolates (dark, milk, or white)
Craft Sticks

Directions:
1. Cook your bacon: Line a backing sheet with foil and lay out your bacon strips on the foil. Place the pan in the oven, then turn your oven on to 400 degrees. Cook your bacon for 17-20 minutes while your oven preheats. Once your bacon is cooked, lay each piece on some paper towels to drain the grease. Finely chop about 6-8 slices and set aside.

2. Prepare your apples: Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top. Butter a baking sheet. (If you would like to make individual servings, you can cut your apple into 6-8 slices before you insert the craft sticks. Put a stick in each slice. Because of the juice in your apples, the caramel will most likely slide off the fleshy part of each apple slice, but should stick just fine to the apple peel. Continue the rest of the directions the same way.)

3. Melt your caramel: Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 2 minutes, stirring once. Allow to cool briefly.

4. Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated. Place on prepared sheet to set.

5. Melt your chocolate: While your caramel is hardening, melt your chocolates in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water. Use as many chocolates as you feel necessary depending on how much chocolate you want on your apples. You can use any flavor of chocolate you would like. We personally like dark chocolate with our caramel.

6. Once your chocolate is melted, you can roll your apples in the chocolate or just drizzle the chocolate over the top.

7. While your chocolate is still warm on your apple, sprinkle your chopped bacon onto the chocolate.

8. Set your apples aside to let the chocolate and caramel harden. Afterward, the bacon should be sticking nicely to your apple concoction!

9. Take pictures of it! Isn’t it pretty? Aren’t you proud of your masterpiece? Share it with your friends on all your social networking sites. Don’t forget to tag @bacontoday in your Instagram and Twitter photos!

10. Eat it! And LOVE IT!
