Bacon Bark

I try to avoid cliche and kitsch as a general rule in my life, but I do have a few exceptions that don’t follow any sort of hard and fast rule.

Today’s exception? Bacon Bark.

bark

Anything that is called “bark” but is made to be edible is usually very cute. It generally has chocolate or toffee or peppermint or peanuts. It very rarely has actual wood. This is a good thing.

Today we have learned about bacon bark. according to packaging, it is comprised of “fresh pieces of crispy, crunchy, salty bacon smothered in Malley’s creamy smooth milk chocolate.”

If you’ve had the pleasure of bacon bark, please share your experience with us.

I just picked up some Bacon Bark at the Malley’s in Lakewood, Ohio for my sweetie on Sweetest Day (Saturday, October 17th). They had samples and it was very good!! It’s reminiscent of my Malley’s favorite; the Pretzel Crunch Bar, except with bacon. I’m nowhere close to being any kind of bacon connoisseur, but the Bacon Bark is excellent. My sweetie will LOVE IT! It’s is pricey (almost $19.00 for a pound box), but great for a gift, a conversation starter, or for sharing.

Picked up a box of this as well. It’s great… sweet, salty. Great chocolate, perfect, crispy bacon. Just a bit expensive. If you find it, buy a box, it’s worth it.

I think I had something similar to this — was just a bacon chocolate bar, but similar idea. The smoky saltiness of bacon with the sweetness of candy isn’t a bad thing!
